Alison writes to ask for assistance in finding a summer job as a lifeguard abroad.

I found two sites for you that I hope can help.

Lifeguarding jobs - this site is mainly a job listing for lifeguard jobs in the United States. Since Alison is from Ireland - that’s abroad!

Lifeguard Skills looks like a much better all around website though - with information, message boards, and more dedicated to lifeguards, life guard trainers, jobs, and certifications. It is based in the UK. I think it may well be the place to go to network and get recommendations (if not THE JOB) from other lifeguards with experience.
