You didn't ask but...
I have this ongoing issue with how creative people are used in our society. How creative people are ranked not by talent but by who you know, where you got your degree(s), who you can claim to have studied under, etc. While people with huge talents go unrecognized and unappreciated because they are self-taught and/or never had the money or support to chase their dreams. However, I love the way the Internet has made it possible for self-taught, self-promoting creative people to reach out and make their work available to the world. One of the websites helping to make this possible is Zazzle.com. My own work is available on Zazzle here. During the next few days I would like to share the work of some other folks at Zazzle, too. So - here’s my pick for the day: Now I’m sure someone is going to point out that anyone can upload designs at Zazzle - even people whose work may (in your opinion) suck. True. But those who have popular work will make money and stay with it - those with work that does not appeal to anyone will not make money and will probably get discouraged and quit. But either way - “the people” get to decide what they like - not some corp drone. Enjoy Summer Posted: Tuesday 12th February 2008, 5:57 PM |
