Lost your marbles?
Thomas writes to ask: How much does a marble weigh? There is no easy answer to this question. Marbles come in sizes from less than 1/4 of an inch to as much as 12 inches across for special collectors items. They can be made in materials ranging from agate to, well, real marble with glass being the most common material. In fact, there is quite an industry around making marbles and collecting marbles, and I’m not sure, but I think maybe kids even still play with marbles. I have a really small marble collection myself - just pretty marbles I’ve found or picked up at various sales (flea markets, auctions and such) and keep in a glass jar. At least, I think that is where they are…hey, where ARE my marbles? Gee, if I could find them, I’d weigh one… Summer (Pretty good article on marbles here in the Wikipedia Posted: Tuesday 12th February 2008, 6:10 PM |
