Neighbors from Hell

Judith writes to ask: What to do with a neighbor that took over the minute she arrived, It was “”"Here I Am Now Get Ott Of My Kids Way They Do Whevewr there little 56 nyearold and 8 year old mind tells them to break. I lived here since 1964 and it was heaven””””””””””””Now it is “”"”"”"”"”HELLLLLL”"”"”"”"”"”

At our age we should not have to put up with them. There are many many other kids. They even drop by for ice cream and ask if they can play in the yard. But those 2 Are mean kids. Hit a poor little dog who loves kids. I am afraid he will begin to dislike kids on account of bthem IDIOTS From HELL!

My kids want us to sell they are sick with worry about thier Dad, His health issues are not good. If anything was to happen to him I a hate ti Imagine which one would hurt thre most. I might nbe old but don’t count me out just yet.THEY NEVER STAYED IN ONE PLACE VERY LONG AND NOW i KNOW WHY!

Can you just hear the desperation here? The awful thing is that there is not a lot you can do - other than hope they they will not stay for long. I have a few suggestions though.

If the kids are breaking and vandalizing things or trespassing on your property, you can contact the police for help. You may also be able to file a civil suit for damages against the parents. If they are tormenting and hitting the dog, contact Animal Control and charge them with animal abuse.

If you are in a condo or apartment complex, the management or board of directors may be able to penalize the parents or at least contact them and inform them they are causing a problem. If you are in a house and know your neighbors well, you might get together and see what the neighborhood can come up with as a solution.

It sounds somewhat like you make your home open to all the children of the neighborhood. As good as this is, as much as you enjoy it, you might try “closing your doors”. Not only will this resolve some of your problems, it will also create peer pressure among the children for these bad apples to straighten out, as well as teach all of them the lesson that privileges can be revoked if they are not treated with respect and appreciation.

I’d suggest a talk with the parents, but it sounds as if this is not an option.

If they are renters, you might try contacting the landlord. If they treat other people and property with such disregard, chances are they are also destroying his/her property. The landlord may well evict them, or inform them eviction can happen if they don’t change their ways.

Okay, I’m out of suggestions - unless you are Pagan like I am and would like a nice banishing spell to use on them. **evil grin**

Our society has gotten into the habit of treating everyone under the age of 18 as if they are perfect, sacred angels who can do no wrong. Sadly, this is not always true. But if the parents will not discipline these children, there is little we can do until they are loosed on society and become a major problem. Of course, by then it will be too late to teach them they aren’t the center of the universe and allowed to do anything they want just because they want to - then we’ll just bounce them in and out of jail and end up supporting them all their lives while they go right on destroying everything they touch.

So, Judith, if you can find a way to stop these children from terrorizing you, the dog, and the neighborhood now you will be teaching them (and maybe their parents) a valuable lesson that will save us all later on.

And now, because I’ve dared to suggest all children are not perfect innocents, let the flaming begin.
