Measles
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease also known as rubeola. It is spread by respiration or contact with the fluids from an infected persons nose or mouth. The classic signs of measles are a fever for at least 3 days (which can range as high as 104 degrees F), cough, runny nose, and red eyes. The characteristic rash appears several days after the fever begins. It starts at the head and moves down the body. The rash turns from red to brown before disappearing. If you have been exposed to someone with measles, you have a 90% chance to contract the disease (if you have not already had it, or been vaccinated). If you think you, or someone you know might have measles, please get to a doctor. Posted: Friday 7th March 2008, 4:46 PM |
