This book was so good; I almost don’t want to review it. In essence, it is about a man, Dennis Lenahan, who has reached a crossroads in his life. He knows he cannot do what he is doing (high diving) for much longer. Diving is his passion, it is the only thing he has ever wanted to do, and he excels at it. He has never really thought hard about what he will do when he becomes too old to dive every day.

Tired of the constant traveling on the carnivals and fairs circuit, he finds himself a comfortable gig at a hotel and casino in Florida. Before his first performance, he witnesses a murder. Further, the killers know that he saw them, but they cannot kill him because he is at the top of the dive tower – too high to hit with a handgun.

Wrapped around a Civil War battle re-enactment is a very real battle among criminals over the local drug turf. Although he begins as an innocent bystander, a witness, Dennis finds himself drawn into the midst of the battle by a charmer of a criminal. You can feel his own temptation in your heart as intriguing opportunities are offered to him. In the end, he has to make a choice about how he is going to live the rest of his life.

You’ll enjoy this one.
