I really don't like to do this, but the situation has become dire. We are once again facing homelessness. The ranch we are living on is about to go into foreclosure proceedings. Fifty years of work and almost $100,000 invested is about to be lost for the lack of less than $5000. Can't get financial assistance because - get this - the owner doesn't owe anyone anything, doesn't use credit cards, doesn't have any small personal loans, owns both vehicles outright, etc. I know we aren't alone, 7.1 million Americans are currently in foreclosure proceedings for their home. So much for Bush's "the economy is doing great". Yeah, it's doing great for the top 20% richest people in America - their income went up by 50% the last few years.
Anyway - any and all help is deeply appreciated.
If it isn't enough or in time to save the ranch, it could still ease the way to finding a place for our family and our animals to go to. I'm not asking for handouts - purchases at my Zazzle store pay me a 7% royalty. Purchases at Prank Place also help a great deal. Surfing my little web empire, clicking on any ads that interest you, all that helps. Linking to my websites helps, too. If you are able to do so, a loan, donation, etc. would surely be appreciated. I just thought that since I have donated so much artwork to the greyhound charities (and others), allowed people to use my art and clipart for free for businesses and charities and hobbys, that perhaps those people whom I have given to freely might be somewhat interested in helping me out in my time of need.
We will survive, we always do. But I would very much like to help my roomie keep the ranch if it is at all possible.
Think of this, too. We want to keep the place because we love it, we intend to live on it, we will husband it with loving care. The people trying to get it away from us want to use it as an investment, land speculating, hoping to sell it for big bucks when that much vaunted Spaceport goes in up the road. They seem to think a bunch of rocket scientists are going to want to move in to McMansions built here or something. Who would you rather have on this land - someone who gets a huge thrill when we see that big bobcat, or the elusive little desert foxes, who smile when a little band of pronghorn antelope dash across the front yard - or someone who can't wait to get the place paved.
Just something to think about.
Anyway - spring is definately on it's way. The chickens are laying. I'm running around in shorts. The horses are all full of themselves. Life is good - for the moment...
I haven't gotten to do a lot of reading because I've been doing a lot of work on the websites and writing articles and doing artwork, etc. When I did sit down to read, it's heavy on the "fluff" quotient-LOL. Still working my way through the J.D. Robb series and loving it. I picked up "Edwin of the Iron Shoes" by Marcia Mueller on the freebie table the other day. I'm thrilled, as this is probably my favorite Marcia Mueller of all time. It's going into the permanent collection :D
At my current mental state, I'm quite likely to sit down with either the Harry Potter books, or Lord of the Rings pretty soon ;)
