Posted on July 21, 2008, by admin in Other fun stuff, Websites I like, important announcement.

Sorry - no new coloring pages today. I’ll be working on updating the rest of the “old” pages to the new look - and possibly trying out a little software that just might make it possible for Color-Your-Own.com to offer printed coloring books. I spent two long days in town last week. A lot of work built up around the house and ranch that needs to be done - some of it quite urgently.

I know so many of you are animal fans, that you will be sure to want to know about FreeKibble.com and FreeKibbleKat.com. You can drop by daily and answer a little pet trivia question. Regardless of if you are correct or not - some free kibble will be donated to shelters that are dealing with a major influx of pets caused by the current foreclosure rate. This was the brainstorm of a 12 year old girl! You kids make me feel so inadequate some times! :D

african elephant coloring pages

“We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of
animals. In a world older and more complete than ours they move
finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have
lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They
are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations,
caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners
of the splendor and travail of the earth.”
–Henry Beston

A beautiful article in the Orion online magazine, Gray Thunder: Listening to Elephants inspired me to add some African Elephants to the coloring pages. There is a bull elephant, upset and about to charge, a mother elephant and her baby, and a walking elephant that looks like she is in a real hurry to get somewhere. Once I started looking, there were elephants everywhere! There is even a blog devoted just to elephants! I hope you enjoy the coloring pages - and do take time to read the article at Orion, too.

I have a really exciting announcement today! My friend the Savvy Auntie has her website up and running - SavvyAuntie.com. It is devoted to women who love children, but have none of their own - the aunties, great aunts, god mothers, and others who have children to love. Among many other wonderful things - you will find some exclusive coloring pages by - yes, me! The coloring pages up at Aunties are NOT on the Color-Your-Own.com site - and they are also in the form of printable PDF files, unlike the ones on my site. Go check them out - and enjoy the great new website, too!

I am still updating old pages - but everything on the new domain, Color-Your-Own.com is up and running. Just means that some pages will have the new look, and some won’t. It takes a bit of time to update almost 300 pages!

If you have any bookmarks that start “http://demented-pixie.com/”, be sure and update them to the new pages! If you want, you can just change the part that says “http://demented-pixie.com/color-your-own/” to say “http://color-your-own.com” and they’ll work just fine as I did not change any of the page names. If you have links to me on your webpages, please update those also! The new site will have some nifty new “link to me” buttons soon, and you can put the blog widget on your own site or start page, too.

Enjoy!

Posted on June 20, 2008, by admin in Other fun stuff, Websites I like, new bird coloring pages.

I am wrestling ISP demons today, so I’m not sure if we will have new coloring pages at Color-Your-Own or not. However, I just opened my email today and saw this in my Dover sampler newsletter. This “50 favorite birds” coloring book is under $4 right now! No affiliation, just that I am a bird watcher and this is a very nice book at a steal of a price - especially if you are wanting to get your kids interested in birding.

Speaking of which, I have a bird song contest going on over at my birding and nature blog, Naturalist Notebook. You could win a fully loaded iPod and Smithsonian Field Guide to the Birds. The contest ends Tuesday, June 24th.

Hopefully I will be back later today with new coloring pages, but we will just have to kind of wait and see how the rest of the day goes.

I have a friend, Robert Sloan, who is a talented artist as well as a writer. One thing he particularily enjoys doing is writing “how to draw” articles for eHow.com. His latest article is How to draw a cat’s eye and is part of a series on drawing cats. I just thought some of the talented folks who visit Color-Your-Own.com might also enjoy his How to Draw articles. Even if it does put me out of business ;)

Nah, I can draw, too, and I still love to just sit down with a box of crayons and a coloring book now and then :D

Quite a whiles back I mentioned LetMeColor.com as another great source of free coloring pages - only I got the link completely wrong! The blogger kindly wrote me and gently corrected me *blush* so here is it now with the correct link and a mention, too, that there are many categories there besides sports, including horses and ponies.

I started yet another blog this week - Fre-ecards.com blog which is to keep folks updated on the newest additions at Fre-ecards.com. I gave that website a major face lift this week, which it really needed. I set it up some years ago because I love ecards myself and it seemed as if all the free ecard websites on line were going to a very irritating stage of tons of pop-up ads, floating ads, malware, spyware, paid memberships, SPAMMING, you name it. I don’t think they’ve changed much either. :( Well, fre-ecards.com doesn’t make much of a blip in my income - but it does offer nice, free ecards, mostly with my own artwork or that of friends and family, as well as some things from the public domain and it doesn’t drown you in advertising. Maybe if you enjoy my art, you’ll enjoy the ecards there.

Friday is blog day for me - but if I get time, I’ll be back with some new coloring pages!

I’ve discovered over time that quite a few homeschooling people use Color-Your-Own coloring pages and so I’ve started browsing various homeschooling sites. One of the nicest I’ve found so far is Homeschooling with Encouragement and I’m very proud to have been featured on their Wednesday Weblink meme!

I’m also discussing a special deal to put some exclusive coloring pages up as part of a new web magazine/newsletter in the near future - very exciting! I’ll let you know more about that when it’s all ready to go!

Coloring Pages for Kids Boys has a great selection of coloring pages featuring cars, trucks, tractors, and “boy stuff”. Myself - I’ve got a coloring book sitting on the coffee table right now, two in fact, that are of cars and “boy stuff”. I’m a big car afficianado and NASCAR fan so I really enjoy coloring cars myself - and I’m a “girl”.

I know I haven’t gotten a new coloring page up for a couple of days. I had planned on one day off (even self-employed artists get a day off, don’t they?) then had some family things come up and had to take another, and now today I have to go to town. Going to town, BTW, entails an hour trip each way - LOL. I HOPE to be back later today with some new coloring pages - but I daren’t promise.

A few days ago I got another request for line art for a tattoo. I thought I’d mention that not only am I open to such requests, I’m thrilled to death that someone would want to wear a piece of my artwork on their body for the rest of their lives. So the answer to that is always an enthusiastic YES!

Now if I’m going to get that art done, never mind anything else, I best be going! Have a wonderful day!

Hi and welcome to the Color-Your-Own.com blog! The main reason for this blog is to keep you updated as new coloring pages are added. I will also share links to other great coloring pages sites.

This week I was on a real pony binge due to a request that actually came in from my Ask Me Anything blog. Someone was seeking a line drawing of a Shetland pony head to embroider on her children’s tack bags and show jackets.

It was really fun to draw all the ponies - and even nicer when she wrote me back and said thanks and that her kids were having a great time coloring all the pages they had found on Color-Your-Own.com.

The new pages for this week are:

Here’s a peek: Shetland pony mare

I also found another wonderful coloring pages site this week that is geared mainly to adults. Let Me Color blog features coloring pages from LetMeColor.com - sort of like this blog! Most of the pages up right now are of various sports such as basketball.

I drop by all of my blogs every Friday (or at least I try to). I love quotes, so this is an excuse for me to share a favorite quote. Since so many people who like Color-Your-Own.com are “horse people” I’d like to share a fun horse quote I found this week:

“The nice thing about horses was that some engineer didn’t redesign them every year and make yours obsolete. - Anonymous, The Arizona Republic, Dec. 21, 2007

If you are a horse person - please make a few minutes to visit JustHorseCrazy.com another of my websites. It is a human edited directory of the best horse sites on the web. The blog (which is in the blogroll here) is full of articles about horses, care, training, news and more. I’m always looking for more sites to add, so feel free to submit your favorite sites.

I haven’t really fixed this blog all up like I hope, so be looking for more changes and improvements soon. I will be updating every time I add new coloring pages at Color-Your-Own.com. And don’t forget, I love requests, so if you can’t find something you want, please email with your request.

So far my plans for next week include Mastiff dogs and Great Danes - in answer to a request.

Have fun!
