Twice I have been contacted by companies that sell embroidery patterns asking if they could use my artwork, from Demented Pixie's Graphics or from Color Your Own to make patterns which they would then sell to embroidery hobbists.

Listen closely. They wanted to use - FOR FREE - MY artwork...to create patterns that they would then SELL.

Is the problem here obvious to you? I informed both of these small companies that my artwork is copyrighted, that it was for use only for those purposes specified on both the graphics and the color you own websites (and my terms are VERY reasonable compared to many) and that I would be quite open to negotiations regarding LICSENSING my work to them for patterns, for a PAYMENT.

Neither of these companies replied to me.

It is very easy to copy a picture from the Internet and create a pattern for embroidery from it. I am asking you, as people who clearly appreciate my work and care about me, if you see a pattern for sale that is clearly made from my artwork, please let me know. They are violating my copyright and believe me, they will pay.

If you enjoy having my artwork to use, you want to help me out here. Because if I get robbed like this more than once, guess what? You got it - the artwork will come down and no longer be available.

ONE greyhound rescue group has requested and received my permission to create embroidered shirts using my artwork - greyhounds, of course. They did not sell the pattern, only the shirts.

If you've purchased a greyhound shirt with my artwork from a rescue group, don't worry about it - they had permission.

If you paid big bucks for a shirt, or any other merchandise, with MY artwork from any organization other than a greyhound rescue group, please let me know because that company is breaking the law and robbing me.

Okay, sorry I had to do that but if anyone is going to make money on my artwork, I think it should be me, eh? Or at least it should go to greyhound charities.

Thanks very much for keeping an eye out for me.
