A bit off subject but...

I thought those who love the fey might also be interested in things like the King Arthur Faire I went to this weekend...

I had a great weekend. Hubby and I went out to the King Arthur Faire at Stroud, OK. As promised, it was a small, friendly, authentic Ren Faire in a lovely, shady grove. We had a wonderful time.

It was so nice to go to a faire where nearly everyone was in costume, and friendly, and there were NONE of the Midway sort of concessions you see at all the large fairs now. We arrived about 3 pm, after a leisurely drive down ol' Highway 66. There were not a lot of people there, although as we left at 5 pm more seemed to be coming in.

The campsites and shelters were very authentic looking, as was the majority of the costumes. We were just in time to see the jousting. Um..well...maybe that wasn't quite the best part. Then we walked around and admired the handiwork. The hubby found some sharp, shiny, pointy things to admire and I watched the weaver for a few minutes.

Probably my biggest thrill, however, was petting the Eurasian Eagle Owl the falconer was holding. He was gorgeous. Very calm. And what HUGE orange eyes.

I found out about the fair from my drum teacher, who sent an invitation to everyone. I didn't get to listen to the live drummers, but they did fire up the music so the Middle Eastern dancers could dance and I had a wonderful time watching them. What great costumes. I tried to get some decent photos to capture the action and color. (My camera leaves something to be desired - but it's a great set of binoculars - LOL.)

They had a drama troupe as well. Again, nice authenticity and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

I put the photos up at my Photobucket album - so go see the slide show: here. Here's a thumbnail or two to tempt you...

Some of them might get gussied up and find their way to my DA account or even to eCards.
